White Grass Ocean Resort & Spa

Had a great night here after spending two nights in a bungalow in a village. White Grass is a lovely low key resort. Staff were welcoming and food was excellent. The only negative is that there is no sand beach. Instead there are beautiful blue pools in the reef. It seems that tourists are avoiding Tanna because the process for booking domestic flights is unusual. Don’t be deterred! You email the airline and they send you a form to fill in. You send it back and that’s it! And my flights to and from Tanna were on time. There is a daily flight. I encourage you to go to Tanna to find the real Vanuatu.

This beautiful resort finds the perfect balance between luxury and authenticity. It's one of the more premium options in the area but hasn't lost any charm because the architecture is still in a local style with traditional materials. The gardens are also stunning. The location is amazing. You're right on the seafront and have your own jeti that leads to a deep blue gulley in the reef where you can take yourself snorkelling. It's not the most expensive place you can stay but due to these two points I think it is the best. On top of that, the staff are so lovely, helpful and attentive. Couldn't recommend it more!

The views, comfort, services, food, tours were excellent. The staff were very welcoming and courteous. The complimentary airport transfer was good and convenient. The resort was a 5 min drive from the airport too. The tours depart from the resort which made it easier. The swimming pool and snorkeling close to the resort was nice. Blue cave and Mount yasur tours which we did, were so easy to book from the resort. 2 separate bathrooms for a family was a bonus. Very happy to have booked the resort during our stay.

It is a very nice place to stay in Tanna. It is close to the airport, offers a lot of day tours including snorkelling and diving. The bungalows are lovely and cozy. Very nice outside areas to sit, relax, have a drink and/or read a book. Nice restaurant. Especially the kitchen staff were very accommodating and friendly. Beautiful sunsets and sunrises. We did visit other resorts for drinks/lunches during our stay and definitely we liked White Grass Ocean Resort the most.

White Grass Ocean resort was such a special and memorable place! The resort itself is well looked after by the staff and locals who work/live nearby. Beautiful views every evening with the sun setting directly in front of the open restaurant, with beautiful private spots all around the resort to sit down and soak in the view. The coral reef surrounding the entire resort was spectacular and the highlight of this place! Little gems, including the reef near the jetty, nearby blue holes, and swimming spots, you will never want to get out of the water! The facilities were perfect for my stay on Tanna island, with direct transfers to and from the airport, plus its convenient location. The staff were soooo lovely and attentive to detail, the food menu for lunch and dinner would change each day, using fresh and local ingredients. Tours were so easy to book through the resort, including the most popular; the volcano safari to Mt yasur! Not to be missed! Overall, wish I could have stayed longer!
